Bani & Co.

The brief

Bani & Co. had never advertised. Their customers came through family recommendations, and the new generation running the shop wanted to reach people who had never heard of them.

The approach

We commissioned new miniature-style portraits of their pieces worn by real customers, painted in the Kishangarh manner with the long eye and arched brow.

A profile as a monogram

The shop’s name comes from Bani Thani, so we traced her famous profile into a single-line mark that now sits on every box, tag and receipt.

Bani Thani, the Kishangarh portrait of a woman in profile holding lotus buds
Unfinished drawing of a nobleman in a white turban
Royal boat party on Lake Gundalao
Pencil underdrawing of a rider on a rearing horse
Courtiers beside a waterfall, one holding a falcon
Women lighting fireworks on a palace terrace at night
Lovers meeting in a palace at night, inside a gold floral border
A woman bringing an offering to a blue ascetic by a fire
Courtiers gathered in a palace courtyard, lightly coloured drawing
Manuscript page of Devanagari verse with a pair of eyes at the top

The outcome

The lookbook became the store's best-selling item at the counter.
